AMVs are technically illegal for "Public Viewing" unless you get permission from all the parties involved. If you made the AMV you own the editing but the original footage and the music are owned by third parties.
When it comes to youtube you really can't do anything about it. When they get a DMCA take down notice they don't spend very much time thinking about it.
